Comparison/ContrastI have read the stories the "And of Clay Are We Created" and "Girl trapped in water for 55 hours dies despite rescue attempts". The story "And of Clay Are We Created" is a fiction story, while, on the other hand, "55 Hours" is a factual news report. Despite the difference in how these stories were written, they have many similarities too. While reading these two stories I found that they had 4 similarities. The first similarity I found was that the main conflict in both stories was that a young girl was trapped after a volcano. The second similarity was that the rescuers never left the girl’s side. They stayed by their side until they took their last breath and died. The third similarity was that both girls were not only trapped by elements of nature but also by the dead bodies of their family members. The last thing they had in common was the one that stood out to me the most. They both died because the needed tools didn’t arrive until it was too late.

Having read “and of Clay We Are Created” and “Girl trapped in water for 55 hours dies despite rescue attempts” I was touched on an emotional level. Both of these stories were synonymous despite one being fictional and the other being factual. The following are four similiarities which were immediately evident to me:Both stories found a young girl trapped following a very violent and active volcano. The rescuers never left each girl’s side and became casualties themselves. Both of these girls were trapped by the elements and the corpses of their family members. In closing, the most obvious similarity is that both girls died because tools needed for their survival arrived too late. These stories illustrate compassion and conflict in a very real way. I was left asking myself how I might react if faced with the same circumstances. In addition I saw humanity demonstrated in a way you do not see often. People sacrificing their own lives in order to save someoneelse.I hope that this excerpt is helpful to you. If nothingelse, it will give you a good foundation to work from.

The story “And of Clay Are We Created” is a fiction story, while, on the other hand, “Girl Trapped in Water for 55 Hours Dies Despite Rescue Attempts” is a factual news report. In the fiction story, (put a of it summary here). In the news story, (put a of it summary here). Despite the differences in these stories, they had many similarities too.The stories had four significant differences. The first and most obvious difference was that the two girls had different names. The girl from the fiction story was named Azucena, which was her flower name. The girl from the news report was named Omeria Sanchez. The second difference was that, even though both tragedies were caused by the eruption of a volcano, the girls were each buried under different substances for different periods of time. Azucena was buried under mud for three nights and Omeria was buried under water for two nights. The third difference was that Azucena got emotionally attached to her rescuer but Omeria did not. Azucena became very emotionally attached to her rescuer because he stayed with her to comfort her; he even told her that he loved her. Omeria, on the other hand, died a silent death without saying anything to anyone. Finally, the tools that could have saved the girls’ lives came after different amounts of time. They arrived a day after Azucena died, but they arrived only four hours after Omeria died.I also found that the stories had four similarities. The main conflict in both stories was that a young girl was trapped after a volcano erupted. Another similarity was that the rescuers never left the side of the girl they were rescuing, they stayed with their girl until they took their last breath and died. Also, both girls were not only trapped by elements of nature, but also by the dead bodies of their family members. The last thing they had in common was the one that stood out to me the most. They both died because they needed tools that didn’t arrive until it was too late. The fact that both ended tragically is the most important difference or similarity in these stories. In both, help should have arrived earlier so lives wouldn’t have been lost. But at the same time, rescue workers did everything in their power to try to save them but it was impossible. “And of Clay Are We Created” had a more emotional impact than “55 Hours”. In the news report, nobody showed much emotion, but the fiction story makes one feel the pain of losing somebody. Overall, the difference in mediums creates a different reading experience, emotionally and informationally. Other things you might want to cover: -News stories actually happened, so events of the fiction story may not be plausible -Fiction story may have romanticized things -News story gives different kinds of details than a fiction story.
