How would i imitate F. Scott Fitzgerald’s writing or Thoreau?

For an essay i have to either imitate F. Scott Fitzgeralds work, or Thoreau's. I have no idea which one I should do, or which one would be easier. Well, you could start by “writing” a story instead of “righting” it.

You should read an exerpt from one of either’s books. Fitzgerald’s “Great Gatsby” is an really good book; as is Thoreau’s Waldon.Thoreau has a philisophical style. “I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately… and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” It’s pretty powerful stuff.Fitzgerald is a great storyteller. His book is outstanding about a guy in new york in like the 20s and he’s rich, throws great parties (it’s been a while since I’ve read it, will have to read again). They’re pretty different writers, I’d find some excerpts of their writing and go from there.
