How do you write the introduction to an essay without it sounding like a report?

  •
I'm talking about the approach where you would normally say something like "This essay will do this by using the following approach." My teacher says saying something like that sounds very "report'-like" and so she doesn't want it to be written like that. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to word it "more to her liking?"

Make it personal. Use your own writing style, but don’t get too carried away. Make it fun, catchy, and your own. Good luck with the assignment!

Write it in how you view things, just relax and be yourself. Remember, don’t take it too much of yourself and remember the classroom’s rules for writing.
